Built by Bert Kuebler and Franny Wolf for Rolles Wagner, Versailles, In

The Rebel, Jr. was introduced in 1958 by the New Orleans Model Race Car Association, led by the club president Bill Wunderlich and Larry Macaluso. The Rebel, Jr. was designed to satisfy the competition rules requirements of the AMRCA .29 Mite class, while still being inexpensive and relatively easy to build by someone with moderate skills. The New Orleans club did not sell completed cars; rather the buyer received only an unfinished aluminum pan casting, along with a hand-drawn sketch showing the principal dimensions of the car, plus a few recommendations for finishing the car.
The Rebel, Jr. car shown in the photos was originally built by Bert Kuebler, along with Franny Wolf, for Kuebler's friend, Rolles Wagner of Versailles, IL. Wagner entered the car in the 1960 AMRCA Nationals held in Anderson, IN where he turned a top speed of 106 mph to place 6th in the .29 Mite class.
Bert Kuebler performed the machine work on the car, and added one of his signature stainless steel fuel tanks and fuel shut-off's. The car is powered by a Dooling 29 engine which was modified by Franny Wolf. Franny Wolf also contributed the stainless steel flying wire pan handle. The hand carved wood body was made by Kuebler.
