Designed and custom-built by John Coval, Scottsdale, AZ
The car shown in the photos is a one-off, scratch-built scale model of a Kurtis-Kraft midget race car, designed and built by John Coval of Scottsdale, AZ.
The ladder frame-design chassis was fabricated from 1/2 by 3/16 inch aluminum bar stock with machined aluminum cross members. The engine, fuel tank, and running gear were then secured to the chassis, as were the polished aluminum body panels. The individual body panels were hand-formed from sheet aluminum using a hardwood buck as a pattern. The front and rear radius rods were formed from brass rod.
The "Halibrand smoothie-style" wheels were custom machined from billet aluminum, and fitted with Thimble Drome Champion tires on all four corners.
The car is powered by a Fuji .099 "Menasco series" model engine with direct drive powering the left rear wheel and a stub axle for the unpowered right rear wheel.
